As principal, it is my great pleasure to welcome        you to our website for The High School for the      Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA).

I am thrilled to be a part of the HSPVA community, where family members are actively engaged in their child’s education, as well as an integral component of our school. I am honored and privileged to lead a dynamic community where teachers and staff cultivate an environment in which students achieve and believe in themselves and their school. We welcome your input, feedback, and support, which will be critical for the teaching and learning environment, and above all, to the success of your child at our school. Together we can continue HSPVA’s legacy of success.  Read More...

Welcome Back!! HSPVA Faculty Introduction 2017 created by Charles Swan

Hello HSPVA Parents,
On behalf of the entire faculty and staff at HSPVA, I hope that this finds you well and safe during these difficult days following Hurricane Harvey. We ask that if you have not already done so, that you reach out to us if you require any help and assistance during this time.
With that said, the HSPVA faculty and staff are excited to be finally welcoming back your student for the start of the 2017-2018 school year on Monday, September 11th (a RED day)! Please remember that school starts promptly at 7:50 AM! As we all prepare for this first day, there are a few items that everyone should keep in mind.
1. For any students, new or returning, that did not take part in Registration or Artist Academy, the school will be open this Thursday, September 7th from 8 AM to 3 PM for those students to turn in all forms and enrollment information (Please bring a lock for lockers). Laptop forms/fees as well as pick-up may take place at this time as well. Please note schedules will not be issued on this day as all students will receive an up to date schedule on the first day of school. If a student is unable to register on Thursday, no worries, we will accept forms and laptop fees on the first day of school.
2. If your family has been displaced due to Hurricane Harvey, we ask that you notify your assistant principal, so that they may support you moving forward. Please contact Mr. Tellez ( if your student is in Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, or Creative Writing or Ms. Alonso-Rodriguez ( if your student is in Dance, Theatre, or Visual Art.
3. A couple key dates for the beginning of school have been changed.
a. Senior Parent Night is now scheduled for Tuesday, September 12th at 6 PM
b. Underclassmen Parent Night is now scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th at 5:45 PM
c. Open House will also take place on Tuesday, September 19th beginning at 6:30 PM
