  • Pre-Kindergarten Lottery Information

For the 2017-2018 school year, Prekindergarten program admission for Bush-zoned students will be determined using a lottery process. There are 44 PK spaces available at Bush Elementary.

Ms. Rose will hold a PK lottery overview meeting on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. She will explain the lottery/registration process in detail and distribute the PK Registration packets for Bush-zoned students during this time. She will also release the PK lottery registration important dates at this meeting.

After this meeting, registration packets may be picked up in the front office at Bush from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Please do not call the office for information about the PK lottery. Ms. Rose will address your questions at the meeting. In case you can't attend the meeting, an information sheet will be available Tuesday, March 21 online or in the office.

The Young Ambassador Program, under the Houston Mayor’s office, was initiated by Yash Semlani, from Mrs. Butera’s 5th grade class, so that students like him, in elementary and middle school (up to 14 years of age), can get involved with issues that impact young children in their city. Ambassadors are selected based on a nominating process of children of various diversities, who live in Houston and exemplify leadership skills, good character, are role models for their peers and are committed to giving back to their city under the Mayor's vision of Houston First. Besides speaking at city council and various events in the city, these Young Ambassadors will pick projects that they feel strongly about and will work with the mayor’s team to get support from city agencies and/or non-profits during their one month tenure. Last week, Yash Semlani was officially appointed by Mayor Turner as the Inaugural Young Ambassador for the city of Houston.  Yash has chosen to focus on 3 service projects - Children's Literacy (writing and business skills), Children's Hunger, and Harmony in Diversity.
