  •       Principal's Message

Welcome to our web page. We are located in The Heights and serve 492 students from Pre-K through Fifth Grade. We are graded as an “A” school by the Children at Risk Organization. We are rated as a 9 out of 10 by the Great Schools Organization. Last year we met all T.E.A. accountability standards and received four out of six distinctions. Last year 91% of our students passed all STAAR tests, 91% passed Reading STAAR, 93% passed Math STAAR, 89% passed writing STAAR, and 87% passed Science STAAR.

We have an excellent academic program but out Music program is also superb. Mrs. Carolyn Davis our music teacher conducts staff developments for HISD Music teachers. She is committed to teaching all students the basics of music and developing their enjoyment of music. We have an excellent reading teacher that is our librarian. She believes in using the library as a vehicle to get students to enjoy reading and use the library as a learning tool. We have a counseling service with a school counselor. We have three computer labs. Our classes have Smartboards, computers, and ipads. The Friends of Field and P.T.O have provided funds for Fine Arts programs at the school. We also have many field trips for our students. Our fourth graders will visit Texas A&M in Galveston this year again. Many of our classes have Writers in the Schools (WITS) Program. Fifth graders take a field trip to Biztown, where they will “run” a fictional town for the day.

You are welcome to visit our school. Please call us at 713-867-5190 to schedule a tour. We look forward towards your visit.

  • Character Day

Learning to read is one of the essential tasks of childhood. Many aspects of school success rest on this foundational skill. To promote a love of reading in our students, our school will be celebrating a “Storybook Day.” We are inviting students to dress as their favorite storybook character such as Snow White, Pecos Bill, Superman, etc., on Friday, October 28th. The students should read and bring the book that goes with his/her outfit. Students may not wear gory costumes or use make up that makes them scary or bloody. Also no weapon-like toys are allowed (guns, knives, swords, laser sabers, etc.) This is a day to celebrate reading and promote reading at home and at school.
