Dr. George Wright, the current President of Prairie View A&M University, visited MCLIMS on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 to speak to our 4th and 5th grade students on the topics of leadership, community service, and being college ready. Dr. Wright’s talk included how leaders are humble, how they listen, how they are readers, choose role models, set goals, execute what they say they are going to do, and take responsibility for their actions. He spoke about how they support others and are part of a team, and even when you are seen as a leader you are servicing others and working for them and with them, no matter the role they play in an organization. Dr. Wright also talked about the importance of college and how students must start now to prepare for their futures by working hard and thinking ahead of what their goals are. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of his talk and all the students felt they learned a great deal about the qualities of leadership from this speaker. We want to thank Dr. Wright for giving our students the opportunity to learn from his years of experience and for the time he took to come visit MCLIMS.
