Dear Parents,

     Welcome to the second grade! On behalf of the staff at MIMS, I am happy to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! I hope you have had an enjoyable summer with your family. I am looking forward to an exciting ten months of getting to know your child and I am so excited to begin another school year.

     I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is PeiHsun (Ivan) Chin,this is my fourth year of teaching at MIMS and before that I taught at the Elementary in San Antonio and the Mandarin Immersion school in St. Louis. I graduated from National Taiwan University of Sport/Management with a Bachelor/Master degree in Education and Recreational sport/management. After graduated and the military service, I decided to go back to school to learn and explore deeper into a career in education. Five years ago, I graduated from the University of Incarnate Word with my PhD degree in Education/Multicultural Ed. and achieved my teaching certifications. Also, I love sports and I play Ice Hockey, I was on the Taiwan National Hockey Team from 2004-2006 and I have coached ice and roller hockey, skating, and many other sports. I love teaching and I love kids!

     I feel that parent-teacher communication is very important to ensure the success of your child.  I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.  To be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school.  A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.
