What Is UIL?
The University Interscholastic League (UIL), founded by The University of Texas at Austin in 1910, serves as a leading authority for public school debate and athletics. It has evolved into the world's largest inter-school organization, operating under the oversight of the Vice President for Division of Campus and Community Engagement at UT Austin. UIL fosters educational extracurricular competitions in academics, athletics, and music, emphasizing values such as sportsmanship, cooperation, and student representation. Through various initiatives, including regional conferences, the publication of Leaguer newspaper, and the administration of scholarships via the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation, UIL aims to enrich student experiences, promote fairness, and uphold high standards of excellence in interschool contests.
