New policy for no-shows at HISD Health and Wellness Centers
Patients who schedule appointments and fail to keep them cause a negative impact on the workflow of the onsite centers. A visit "no show" is defined as a scheduled appointment that is not canceled or rescheduled at least two hours before the appointment time. A high no-show rate impacts:
1. Productivity of the centers' staff
2. Patient satisfaction
3. Financial return for HISD
New policy effective Dec. 1, 2021
First offense: Three (3) no-shows in a 180-day period.
Consequence: Patient will not be able to visit the HISD Health & Wellness Centers for 180 days.
Patient will only be able to visit the 16 Next Level Urgent Care Centers contracted through HISD and pay their applicable visit fee. After 180 days, the patient can resume pre-booking appointments.
Second offense: Patient who then accumulates three (3) additional no shows in a 180-day period.
Consequence: Patient will be unable to use all centers (HISD Health & Wellness Centers and 16 Next Level Urgent Care Centers contracted through HISD) for 90 days. After the 90-day period, patient can resume utilizing the centers.
Processes
Tracking
- No shows will be tracked as “no show, date” in the patient’s chart using a pop-up alert.
- Once a patient has three (3) no shows within the above specified time frames, the pop-up alert will be changed to indicate the restrictions that the patient has and when the restriction will end.
- Patient will be notified of no-show history and the no-show policy when scheduling appointment/during appointment reminder call.
