    Mission:
    Our First Responders are essential to the students and staff at HISD. Therefore, we must provide them with self-care tools, mental health resources, training, and much more to provide them with the tools they need to survive traumatic events or to work through everyday stressors in your roles as police officers and nurses. We value your service. We value you.     Purpose: The information contained in this website is for the use of the HISD First Responders currently identified as police officers and nurses. We are providing several tools you can use that will help you manage a variety of mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, trauma, and more.

    Everything provided is at no cost to you and most items have unlimited usage.

    Mental Health Resources

    The resources found here can help you fill your mental health toolkit with lots of useful phone numbers that you can share with colleagues, as well as assessments that you can take if you are experiencing difficulties in concentration, critical thinking, physical and mental trauma. Feel free to familiarize yourself with these tools and resources, so when you need them, you know exactly where to go.

    Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)

    The HISD Employee Assistance Plan powered by GuidanceResources, can be accessed 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This benefit provides immediate access to counselors and provides for 8 sessions per person, per household member per year. Your household and family members can access this benefit with the same number of sessions that you have. The website is robust and provides tools for searching for a counselor and much more. There is also a handy app that you can download called: “Guidance Now”. This is the EAP in your pocket at your quick disposal.

    Foundations

    Once you have registered for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and have downloaded the Guidance Now App, you can also download the Foundations App. This App provides you with immediate access to assessments and inventories that can help you discover your mental health status – all at your fingertips. Family members and household members who have downloaded GuidanceNow, can also download the Foundations App and begin using immediately.
