    • SDMC Member Survey
      • Dear SDMC Members,

An earlier email regarding the SDMC survey may have caused some confusion, as it was sent from a non-HISD address. This issue has been corrected.

This email is legitimate, and completing the required survey is necessary for all SDMC members.

As outlined in Texas Education Code §11.252(d), every district must evaluate the effectiveness of its decision-making and planning policies, procedures, and staff development activities every two years. This evaluation ensures that both district and campus-level structures positively impact student performance.

To support this process, all members of the campus-based SDMC are asked to complete the survey by May 30, 2025If you have already submitted the survey, there is no need to complete it again.

Thank you for your time and participation.

        • During the 2023-2024 school year, Jack Yates HS improved from an “F” score in 2022-2023 to a “B” (84/100). Previously, 2021-2022, Jack Yates was “not rated” due to the Covid pandemic. The growth was the result of gains made on EOC exams, particularly in the “approaches” and “meets” categories of STAAR
        • Despite the growth in our state accountability data, there are still gaps in student achievement. Specifically, we see gaps in our Special Education population
      • Domain 1: Student Achievement

      • What it Measures: How well students perform on the STAAR test, graduate on time, and prepare for college or careers.

      • Who it Includes: All students, all subjects.

      • Think of it as: 📚 "How many students met grade level?"

      • Domain 2: School Progress

      • Two Parts:

      • Part A – Academic Growth: Did each student improve from last year?

      • Part B – Relative Performance: How does our school’s achievement compare to other schools with similar demographics?

      • Think of it as: 📈 "Are students growing, even if they aren’t at grade level yet?"

      • Domain 3: Closing the Gaps

      • What it Measures: How well student groups (like English learners, special education, economically disadvantaged, etc.) are performing

      • Focuses on: Equity and ensuring every group is supported.

      • Think of it as: 🧑🏽‍🤝‍🧑🏼 "Are we helping all students succeed?"

    • From 54 to 84! Yates is now a B-rated campus — a 30-point jump in one year!

📈 Huge Academic Growth: Students made 26 points of growth — showing strong year-over-year progress.

🏆 Closing the Gaps: Yates earned a C in Domain 3, making great strides toward meeting the needs of all student groups.
