Mr. Terrell
Digital Audio Technology
My name is Anthony Terrell, and I started teaching at Houston ISD in 2013.
I graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 2013 with a Bachelor's in Music and earned a Master's degree in Music Technology from Southern Utah University in 2022.
I have experience teaching 6th to 8th graders in subjects like Technology Applications, Graphic Design, and Music Production.
Between that time teaching middle school, I also spent a year as an elementary school teacher and a year and a half as an adjunct Audio Production professor at the Art Institute of Houston.
In 2022, I created the first Electronic Music Production class at Marshall Middle Academy of Fine Arts.
I live and breathe music, which began at age 4 and grew when I joined the band in 5th grade. I continued playing through college, and today I am a gigging horn player in addition to my artistry as a singer, songwriter and producer. I also acted in the film "Memory Builds the Monument" directed by Isaac Yowman, Solange Knowles' "When I get Home" and had music featured on HBO's "Insecure" and apple music playlists.
I've performed at many well-known places in Houston, including Miller Outdoor Theater, The Contemporary Art Museum and the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, as well as an east coast tour. I'm part of a musical artist collective called "The Everlasting Vibez."
Now, I am thrilled to teach at Jack Yates High School, which is a vision coming to fruition. I am excited to guide the youth and establish a solid program in the JY School of Communications.
