  • VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN MEDAL: TOP SENIORS GRADUATE

    Students who wear the gold or silver medal of achievement are the top students of Jack Yates High School graduating class

     

    GOLD CORD: TOP 10% OF THE CLASS OF 2025

    Students who wear the gold cord are the top 10% of Jack Yates High School graduating class

     

    WHITE "V" STOLE: NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

    National Honor Society members in good standing wear the honor white "V" stole with the NHS emblem. Officers have a gold stole.

     

    BLACK STOLE:  CLASS OFFICERS

    Students who wear the black stole hold senior class officer positions.

     

    LIGHT BLUE CORD: ASSOCIATE DEGREES

    Students who wear the light blue cord have earned an Associate Degree from Houston Community College.

     

    GREEN CORD: STUDENT COUNCIL

    Students who wear the green cord are Student Council members who serve as a liaison between the student body and the administration. Comprised of student leaders who represent their fellow students and school.

     

    RED AND SILVER CORDS Jack Yates Mighty Lions Debate

    Students who wear the red and silver cord are debate team members.  

     

    WHITE AND BLUE CORDS: Robotics Red Lion Bots

    Students who wear the blue and white cords are members of the Jack Yates Robotic Team.

     

     

    WHITE CORD: MARCHING MOTION BAND

    Students who wear the white cord are members of the Jack Yates Marching Motion Band.

     

    ROYAL BLUE AND YELLOW CORD: JY THEATRE ENSEMBLE

    Cords of royal blue and yellow are members of the award winning Jack Yates Theatre Ensemble.

     

    NAVY BLUE CORD: GENESYS WORKS INTERNS

    Students who wear the navy-blue cord are interns with the Genesys Works program giving jobs in the field of business and computers.

     

    ORANGE AND SILVER: OnRamps HONOR CORD

    Students who wear the orange and silver cord have completed an OnRamps course through The University of Texas at Austin during their time in high school.

     

    BLUE AND ORANGE STOLE: ONE GOAL

    Students who wear the orange and blue stole are OneGoal Fellows. OneGoal is a college persistence program that leverages the power of a highly effective teacher to support Fellows to and through graduation from their best fit colleges.
