The Bellaire Mighty Cardinal Band consists of several performing ensembles in which over a hundred students participate throughout the school. It has been a longstanding tradition of the Bellaire bands to hold several concerts throughout the year and compete in top-tier band competitions throughout the area.

Just some of these events include the UIL Region IX Marching Competition, HISD Jazz Festival, UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, HISD Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, UIL Solo/Ensemble Competition, and UIL Region/Area/State Band Competition, as well as several other public appearances and competitions throughout the academic year. The Mighty Cardinal Band has been consistently represented with Division I and II ratings at Region and State Solo/Ensemble Competition, various Concert Festivals, and in the Region IX Band. In addition to musical skill, high academic upkeep is highly stressed throughout the band program due to its strong importance in participation in the band program and, of course, in shaping one’s character and future endeavors.

The Bellaire band program consists of five different ensembles: the marching band (of which the drumline, front ensemble, and color guard are part), the symphonic band, the wind ensemble, the jazz ensemble, and the concert band. Various smaller student ensembles (such as trios/quartets/quintets) are regularly conducted throughout the year, as well.
