    Club Philosophy

Bellaire Women's Lacrosse is a non-UIL sport which provides a fun and competitive lacrosse playing atmosphere for high school girls in 9th-12 grade.  We are a Division 1 team playing in the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League (TGHSLL) South District.  The team is open to Bellaire High School students, or players zoned to Bellaire whose school does not offer playing opportunities.  Physical education credit is available to those players who meet specific HISD participation requirements.

The team is a tryout team limited to a maximum of forty players on 2 squads, one varisty and one junior varsity.  The varsity squad is composed of players who have demonstrated the attitude, skills, athleticism, and committment to succeed at the varsity level and strive to develop the skill to play at the collegiate level.  The jv squad is composed of less-experienced players who demonstrate a committment to play and improve.  Both squads work under a unified training curriculum administered by the coaching staff which allows junior players to  progress to the varsity level as their skills develop.

Our fall ball season runs September through early December, training 2-3 evenings per week, and both teams participate in several tournaments designed to help the coaches divide players into two squads for the regular spring season.  Coaches will often move players between squads during the fall to assess playing skills and identify the best balance for each roster.  The spring rosters are usually set by early November in order to prepare for the spring season.

The spring season runs from January through April, with both squads playing 10-12 games from February to mid-April.  The top 6 teams in Divison 1 are eligible for state playoffs which conclude by early May. We typically practice or play games 2-3 nights per week until the end of the season.

Practices are typically held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 pm, at Bayland Park or Johnston Middle School.  Our home field for games is the Houston Amateur Sports Plex (HASP).
