Mrs. Stephanie Square
I was born and mostly raised in Houston, Texas. My parents emigrated from Nicaragua in the 80's and had five children, including two sets of twins. My sisters and I are products of Houston ISD schools, having attended Rusk and Anson Jones Elementary (closed in 2006). I attended Gregory Lincoln Education Center where I played basketball and competed in gymnastics. While in middle school, my father was deported. My mom, sisters, and I relocated from Clayton Homes to Cuney Homes. I am a proud graduate of Jack Yates High school where I played basketball, soccer, softball, and tennis. I also ran track and cross country.
After high school, I graduated on a Distinguished Honor Roll from Texas Southern University with a B.B.A. in Accounting. Soon after, I began my teaching career at my alma mater, Jack Yates High School, as a secondary math teacher. During my five years of teaching, I served as math chairperson, and a member of SDMC, Faculty Advisory Committee and Small Learning Community lead. I continued my education at Rice University and earned an M.B.A. with a concentration in Accounting. While attending Rice University, I was a member of the Finance Club, Hispanic Business Student Association, Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program, Rice Educational Leadership Club, Net Impact Club, and the National Society of Hispanic MBA's. I served as a Teacher Specialist/Assistant Principal at Wheatley High School, North Forest High School, and Austin High School for the next five years. I served as the Principal of East ECHS from July 2018 to July 2023. I was honerd to be named Principal of Jack Yates High School on July 25, 2023.
