A qualified medical child support order (QMCSO) is a court order requiring you to add medical coverage for your child.

Within 31 days of receiving a QMCSO, contact the HISD Benefits Service Center to make the following changes:
• Add medical, dental and/or vision coverage for you and/or the dependent child as specified in the QMCSO
• Add or increase contributions to a health care FSA

What happens when you die
When your dependent child turns 26 or your dependent grandchild turns 25, they’re no longer eligible for benefits unless they’re disabled. To avoid paying for coverage your adult child can’t use, be sure to contact the HISD Benefits Service Center within 31 days of your child’s 26th or grandchild’s 25th birthday. Otherwise, you can't make benefit changes until the next annual enrollment period. Call 877-780-HISD (4473), choose a language and then press 2 to get started. Once your child is no longer covered under your benefits, they may be able to receive coverage through COBRA if they enroll within 60 days of their birthday. Contact WageWorks COBRA Services at 800-526-2720 for more information.
If your adult child is disabled, contact Aetna customer service at 877-224-6857 to fill out the Disabled Dependent application.
