• The Maritime Academy Magnet Program

    The Maritime Academy at Jack Yates prepares students for careers in the vibrant maritime, engineering, logistics, and technology industry. In partnership with the Port of Houston, students get the opportunity to earn real world experience with a focus on logistics.

     Students can train and be certified to drive our campus forklift or have the chance to drive a ship through the Panama Canal with the assistance of our new immersive bridge simulator.

    Students with a high interest in pursuing a career in Maritime Logistics can also take part in Dual Credit college hours with our partner, Houston Community College. Students will take maritime course work that leads them to a Level I Professional Certificate in Logistics.   

    Students in the Maritime Academy have the opportunity to participate in the following courses of study:

     

    Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics

    *Dual Credit Program for 10th - 12th grade*

    Focus Area: Operating water vessels

    Focus Area: Forklift Operation

    Focus Area: TWIC Card acquisition

    Focus Area: Robotics
