Theatre Audition Information

  • Audition Requirements:

    The theatre program consists of 3 different tracks: Acting, Musical Theatre, and Technical Theatre. A student must choose a program to audition for before auditioning. Students may audition for more than one track.​ 2021-2022 theatre auditions will be held in-person 10/30, 11/20, 12/4, and 12/11/2021 on the MPVA campus, and virtually via MS Teams on 1/8 and 1/15/2022.  No recorded auditions will be accepted. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed during all auditions. 


    Acting requirements: Those auditioning for acting should prepare a one-minute monologue. A monologue a long speech by one actor from a play. Poems and speeches are acceptable, but monologues from published plays are preferred.


    Musical Theatre requirements: Musical Theatre auditioners should prepare a monologue, please review the acting section above. They should also prepare 30 seconds of a song from a musical. Pick a song that is appropriate to your vocal range. Auditions are sung a cappella.


    Technical Theatre requirements: Those auditioning for Tech Theatre should prepare 2 drawings: 1 Costume design and 1 Set design. These can be from a play, musical, or book. Students should be ready to answer questions about their drawings and process.
