Theatre Audition Information

Theatre: MPVA Magnet Program Audition Requirements:
Theatre: Students auditioning for theatre (acting) must prepare a memorized monologue between thirty seconds to one minute in length. The monologue must be from a published source. In addition, all students will be asked to work in small, assigned groups on an improvisational activity or theatre game.
Theatre Rubric:
- Voice = 40 points
- Physicality= 40 points
- Characterization= 40 points
- Ensemble= 40 points
- Direction= 40 points
- Performance = 100 points
Total= 300 points
Musical Theatre: Students interested specifically in Musical Theatre must prepare a one-minute memorized monologue between thirty seconds to one minute in length as well as 30 seconds of a song from a musical. They will sing it acapella.
Musical Theatre Rubric:
- Voice= 50 points
- Physicality= 30 points
- Characterization= 40 points
- Ensemble= 40 points
- Direction= 40 points
- Performance = 100 points
Total Points= 300 points
Technical Theatre: Students interested specifically in Technical Theatre must bring one of their original sketches of a set or costume design. These designs may be for a play, musical, or book. Students should be prepared to talk about the inspiration of their design and the specific choices they made. Please note that there is some acting involved in the technical theatre class since technicians are learning about implementing design for live performances.
Tech Theatre Rubric:
- Creativity of design= 100 points
- Interview= 100 points
- Execution of design= 100 points
