Meyerland Dance Department is a diverse technique and performance-based program, and has been awarded Most Outstanding Middle School Dance program for 10 years in a row, with highest honors for performance and faculty and student choreography in HISD Dance festivals and competitions.   Incorporating a strong focus on Classical Ballet, various techniques of Modern Dance and Contemporary styles, Jazz Dance including Classic, Street, Musical Theater, and social styles; students master these techniques in class and performances. Meyerland Dance Ensemble (MDE), is our pre-professional dance company, and has performed at a multitude of events and venues including the National Dance Educators Organization Annual Conference, Austin Dance Festival, Bailando International Dance Festival, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Wortham Center, Jones Hall, Bayou City Arts Festival, Houston Theater District Open House, ERJCC Houston, and various district Dance events, along with residencies, workshops, and master classes with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Houston Ballet, Jessica Lang Dance, Companie Kafig (Brazil), Malpaso Dance Company (Cuba), Ballet Hispanico, Battery Dance (NYC),  Alicia Graf Mack (Julliard) and Daisha Graf ("Call Me Kat"/"Step Up"), Koresh Dance Company (Philadelphia), and Dance Theater of Harlem (NYC).  Meyerland Dance Department is run by the talented, Mr. Chadwick Peters, who is also Fine Arts Chair at MPVA, and is a proud Senior Award and Distinquished Guest Artist Award winner and alumni of HSPVA, and SMU Meadows School of the Arts.  Mr. Peters received the University of Texas' UTeach Fine Arts Educator of the Year Award 2021, for his accomplishments in Dance Education, and Teacher of the Year at MPVA for 2021-2022.
