          • LOTE
            • Mr. Leal is preparing for certification exam. Currently, students either take it at HCC or through online option.
          • Health
            • This year, we are attempting to implement our waiver request for students to earn Health credit through biology class. Mr. Cantu successfully sought health teaching certificate. He is currently prioritizing biology due to STAAR but is preparing to cover non-overlapping TEKS this semester.
          • Senate Bill 30
            • Almost all senior students have completed this. We complete this through history class during their sophomore year. Upper class students who need to complete this task are invited with sophomores each year.

Senate Bill (SB) 30, also known as The Community Safety Education Act, requires the State Board of Education (SBOE) to adopt rules to include the instruction developed under TEC, §28.012, in one or more courses in the required curriculum for students in grades 9-12. The SBOE adopted a new rule in Title 19 of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), §74.39, Requirements for Instruction on Proper Interaction with Peace Officers, that became effective August 27, 2018. This rule requires school districts and charter schools to provide instruction to students in grades 9-12 on proper interaction with peace officers during traffic stops and other in-person encounters.

        • FAFSA
          • We are working to schedule 1:1 meetings with students who still need to complete this task.

In 2019, the 86th Texas Legislature established a new financial aid application graduation requirement. Beginning with students enrolled in 12th grade during the 2021-2022 school year, each student must do one of the following in order to graduate:  1) Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); 2)Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA); Additional information regarding the financial aid application graduation requirement is provided on the Financial Aid Requirement webpage.

        • CPR
          • All students were provided with CPR instruction last school year. Currently, only 9 seniors still need to complete this.
          • Requirements for Instruction in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). (a) A school district or an open-enrollment charter school shall provide instruction to students in Grades 7-12 in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The instruction: (1) may be provided as a part of any course; and (2) must be provided to each student at least once before graduation from high school. (b) CPR instruction must include training that has been developed: (1) by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross; or (2) using nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines for emergency cardiovascular care and incorporating psychomotor skills to support the instruction. (c) A school district or an open-enrollment charter school may use emergency medical technicians, paramedics, police officers, firefighters, representatives of the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, teachers, other school employees, or other similarly qualified individuals to provide CPR instruction and training under this section. Except as specified in subsection (d) of this section, an instructor of this training is not required to be certified in CPR. (d) Instruction provided under this section is not required to result in certification by a student in CPR. If instruction is intended to result in certification in CPR, the course instructor must be authorized to provide the instruction by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or a similar nationally recognized association.

      • Graphic Design & Multimedia Arts - we will begin offering Level 1 and 2 in the upcoming school year. We will target students not TSI ready not requiring Reading intervention. Additionally, this will serve as elective options for students. This will allow us to offer advanced theatre, dance, and art. Also, it will reduce number of students taking additional fine arts classes they do not want. Finally, the position will generate CTE funds. Mr. Bradley will teach Level 1 and 2 course next year. Ms. Cugasi plans to seek certification to teach level 3 and 4 courses in the 2024-2025 school year. This pathway will allow students not earning Associate degree to earn certification in Adobe Certified Professional in Graphic Design and Illustration Using Adobe Illustrator

      • Waivers
        • Alternate Start/End Times: The purpose of this waiver is to request alternate Start/Dismissal times for East Early College High School. Our bell schedule is required to align with Institute of Higher Education (IHE partner), Houston Community College so our students may take advantage of college level courses during each class period. As an Early College High School it is imperative that our school hours align with the times that Houston Community College Classes are offered at the Southeast Campus - Felix Fraga location so that our students can take courses that count both toward their Associate Degree and their High School Diploma. East ECHS will begin at 7:50 and end at 3:30 each day. Metric for success will be percentage of students taking dual credit and college coursework and decrease in number of students taking courses at other HCC campus.
        • Health through Biology: The purpose of this waiver is to allow students to earn one‐half health credit required for graduation through the Biology 1 course by compositing health TEKS and aligning them with the biology TEKS. The biology teacher must also be certified in health. Integration of health TEKS must be documented in the course syllabus and submitted to Curriculum for approval; principals must monitor implementation to ensure health TEKS are taught.
