A former purple pup, Ms. Tobola sang for the first time in the same room where she now teaches! Some things have changed since then, but not the choir program's commitment to excellence.

Ms. Tobola  attended Rice University, Baylor University,  and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with degrees in vocal performance.  After singing professionally for several years, she left music completely and twiddled her thumbs in the corporate world before realizing that teaching was her calling. This is her 14th year as Lanier's choral director.

In addition to teaching at Lanier, Ms. Tobola is artistic director of the Houston Girls Chorus which is a co-venture of the American Festival for the Arts and Houston Grand Opera. She is also on the faculty of the American Festival for the Arts summer conservatory where she prepares and conducts the high school girls' choir. For fun, Ms. Tobola sings with VOX,  one of Houston's professional choral ensembles.. Oh, and she loves cats!
