  • 2024 Tryouts Dates and Times & Info

    UPDATED DATES BELOW

     

    8th grade tryout dates.  

    Wednesday, September 4th - 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Lanier gymnasium

    Thursday, September 5th - 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Lanier gymnasium

    7th grade tryout dates.  

    Monday, September 9th - 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Lanier gymnasium

    Tuesday, September 10th - 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Lanier gymnasium

     

    Athletes will be assessed on the following volleyball fundamentals as well as fitness and athletic ability.

    • Passing
    • Setting
    • Hitting
    • Serving
    • Blocking

    Make sure to bring gear to tryout in.  You'll be able to use the locker room after school.

    Things you'll need.

    • Volleyball/athletic shoes
    • Knee pads
    • Volleyball/athletic attire
    • Water bottle
    • Volleyballs will be provided

  • Volleyball Paperwork

    In order to tryout all paperwork must be submitted on the Register My Athlete website.

    PAPERWORK

    Medical History - This must be filled out by a parent or guardian

    Sports Physical - This must be signed off on by a doctor

    Insurance Waiver - If you plan to use your own insurance, you must sign the insurance waiver and submit the insurance information.  You will also need to get the form notarized or have a Lanier Administrator sign off on it.

    HISD Insurance - HISD athletics insurance must be purchased if you don't have insurance to use

    There are several other forms that must be filled out as well. 

    Students will not be able to participate in tryouts, practices or games if the paperwork is not complete.

    Have all the paperwork completed by August 16th. This will ensure it will be reviewed by HISD officials in time for tryouts.
