• 6M Policy Sheet

Welcome to 6M! We are excited to have you as part of our cluster this year. Below are a few guidelines that hold true in all of your core cluster classes (literacy, math, science and world cultural studies (wcs)).

We are ALWAYS Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Prepared.

    • Always prepared, this includes planner, binder with all supplies, novel, completed homework, assignments, etc.
    • Seated and writing in our planners when we enter the room, leave planners open to allow teacher to quickly look over.
    • The assignment blocks in our planners always remain white and undecorated. We only color/decorate the calendar or edges of pages.
    • We completely and accurately fill out restroom permits before approaching teacher for signature.
    • We listen and read all directions carefully before asking questions. We wait for the teacher to finish speaking before we raise our hands or ask questions.
    • We turn in all of our work on time. However, late work is accepted at a penalty. For the first calendar work is late, it is 20% deducted. For the second calendar day it is 30% deducted. Every other day is 50% deducted up to five calendar days.

    Time for some “NO’s”

NO: Gum, Permanent markers (Sharpies), liquid paper, rubber bands, or general misusing of supplies.

    Conduct/Responsibility:

We feel that responsibility is an important trait to nourish in our 6th graders. In all classes students will be responsible for coming to class prepared, following proper format for completing work (heading, neat, quality, and following class procedures. Infractions will affect student conduct grades as follows:

                            0-3 infractions/class = excellent responsibility/conduct

                            4-6 infractions/class = satisfactory responsibility/conduct

                             7+ infractions/class = poor responsibility/conduct

Each infraction will be recorded in your child’s notebook, and we start at zero each nine week cycle. Parents will be notified if their child earns 6 responsibility marks; 7 responsibility marks will result in a half-hour detention before or after school.

There will be incentives each nine weeks for any child with zero infractions. If your child has 0-3 infractions, you can assume he/she is very responsible in our classes. Please congratulate your child and reinforce the importance of responsibility and that it leads to great success in daily life.
