Students who enroll at Lanier, as zoned students, must reside in our attendance zone for the duration of the time they attend Lanier. If a zoned student moves out of our attendace zone, they will automatically be withdrawn from Lanier and enrolled at their new zoned campus, per district guidelines.
If your family resides in our attendance zone, you are automatically guaranteed a space at Lanier. If your child is identified as Gifted and Talented, he/she will automatically be placed in our Vanguard program. If your child has not been identified as Gifted and Talented by HISD and you are not new to the district, your child will be placed in our Pre-AP/MYP level courses.
If you currently reside in our attendance zone and submit a magnet application for the 21-22 school year, your application will automatically be placed in our zoned lottery, not our magnet lottery, and you will be required to reside in our attendance zone for the duration of the time your student attends Lanier. If you would like your application to be placed in our magnet lottery, meaning if your application is selected through the magnet lottery you can move outside of our attendance zone, within HISD zones, and still remain at Lanier, you will need to email the Vanguard Magnet coordinator, Mrs. Jennifer Garza Pender, at firstname.lastname@example.org, and request that your student’s application be placed in our magnet lottery, not our zoned lottery.
