At Lanier Middle School, we highly value maintaining open lines of communication with our wonderful families. As we embark on this new school year, we are excited to introduce some updates to our communication approach to ensure that you are well-informed about any disciplinary matters involving your child.

To foster a positive and productive learning environment, our dedicated teachers will be implementing a comprehensive discipline management plan. This plan includes various steps aimed at addressing behavioral issues and promoting responsible conduct among our students. The plan involves meetings between teachers and students, phone calls home, and when necessary, parent meetings.

We would like to acquaint you with the range of discipline actions that Lanier Middle School may employ.  Varying discipline options will begin to be assigned starting 9/4/23.

In addition to these measures, we are excited to incorporate social-emotional learning components into our discipline plan. Our commitment to your child's holistic development is reflected in the following initiatives:

Social workers connecting with students during lunch detention.

Students having the opportunity to meet with a Social Worker upon their return from an Out of School Suspension.

We kindly remind you of a couple of important expectations that contribute to a smooth and respectful school environment. Students are required to wear their identification cards at all times. To reinforce this, students not wearing their ID will be assigned lunch detention. Moreover, adherence to our school uniform policy is essential. Students not in compliance with the Lanier dress code will also be subject to lunch detention.

Lastly, we would like to emphasize that behaviors such as fighting, using inappropriate language towards adults, possessing drugs, alcohol, or weapons will result in an immediate suspension. We are committed to maintaining a safe and nurturing atmosphere for all students and staff.
