Welcome to the HISD Transportation Department. We strive to provide safe and on-time transportation to the students within the Houston Independent School District. Our students are assigned to the closest stop within 2-3 miles of their home address if they are eligible for transportation services.
A student should be picked up and dropped off only at the designated stop. For safety reasons, students should arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to their scheduled pick-up time.

Homeless
Our Homeless and Foster Care Department extends resources from our Sunrise Centers to students across seven sites, ensuring support for their success in and out of the classroom. Click here to visit.

Transportation Eligibility
Students attending their zoned school or School of Choice within a 3-mile radius are eligible for transportation services determined by the Edulog system using GIS and parcel data.
-
Special Education Programs
Students eligible for transportation to special education services would be unable to attend school and benefit from their special education programs without the availability of specialized transportation. To be eligible for special education transportation, the following are required:
- A written Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee recommendation requesting specialized transportation services and stating the specific type of transportation necessary to reasonably accommodate the student’s disability or impairment.
- An Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) that includes the written recommendation of the ARD committee requesting specialized transportation services.
