Alejandra Ortega—Jordan High School for Careers
Alejandra Ortega attended Dogan Elementary and McReynolds Middle schools before graduating from Jordan. She serves as historian of the National Honor Society, president of Skills USA/VICA, and historian of Business Professionals of America. She also serves as the Public Affairs/Special Projects Officer for her Junior Reserve Office Training Corps (JROTC) battalion. Ortega plans to study mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin, using some of the more than $405,000 in scholarship offers she received.
Ortega lists some of her favorite subjects as Advanced Placement (AP) calculus, Spanish literature, and advertising. The Honor Roll student has been named an AP Scholar with Honor, a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, and Outstanding JROTC Cadet of the Year twice. She has also received awards for her performance in advertising, graphic design, and many other subjects. In her spare time, Ortega enjoys reading, photography, and producing graphic art.Susana PalomoSusana Palomo—Jordan High School for Careers
Susana Palomo is a product of Pugh Elementary and McReynolds Middle schools. She serves as vice president of her school’s National Honor Society chapter, and she is active in the Spanish Club, the Principal’s Advisory Committee, Skills USA/VICA, and the National Council of La Raza’s Escalera Scholars program. Palomo is an Honor Roll student who has been recognized for her outstanding performance in pre-calculus and desktop publishing.
Palomo plans to study forensic chemistry at Sam Houston State University using the Women of AT&T, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and Elliot T. Bowers Scholarships she has received. She lists her favorite subjects as pre-calculus and pre-chemistry, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, creating animation, and solving Sudoku puzzles.
