• How Does Summer School Work?

Summer school is in-person only. There are two types of summer school options for students: IBDP Summer School (for students who are IB Diploma Candidates but did not take Algebra 1 in middle school), and Credit Recovery (for students who were previously seated in the course but did not earn credit). Academic Deans will make students aware of the need for summer school. They will send additional notices to student email and parent email on file as grades for this semester are finalized. It is important that students clear all courses for which they have not earned credit in previous semesters. It is not necessary to email your Academic Dean unless you have not received an email by week before Summer School and believe summer school is necessary.

      • Students are allowed two absences during summer school.
      • Disciplinary referral may result in removal from the summer school Program.

    Attendance:

Students are only allowed to miss two days. If a student is ten minutes late for class, the student will be considered absent for that day. On the third absence, the student will be dropped from the class with no credit. Three tardies equal one absence. Inappropriate behavior during summer school will lead to being dropped from summer school.

    Transportation:

Transportation will be provided for those who request it via the QR code on the summer school letter. Transportation will likely be a pick-up and drop-off at the student’s sending campus, though that has not been finalized by HISD transportation.

Summer testing: *If your child is required to sit for a STAAR EOC, that absence will not count as a summer school absence. The sending campus will provide the host campus the testing attendance.

***Deadline to request transportation has ended.
