Can I audition for both modern & hip hop? YES, PLEASE NOTATE YOUR PREFERENCE OF PLACEMENT ON YOUR APPLICATION.

I'm not sure if I'm attending Lamar or if I'm going to take dance next year. Should I still attend? YES, CLASSES FILL UP AND WE HAVE TO GIVE PRIORITY TO STUDENTS WHO ATTEND THE AUDITION FOR PLACEMENT.

The Lamar Dance department offers intro level dance, intermediate modern, intermediate hip hop and diploma dance. The program also consist of Lamar Dance Theatre, the resident Dance Company at Lamar High School. Lamar Dance Theatre includes modern/contemporary & hip hop members. Students in the dance program will participate in a performance in the Ned S. Holmes Performance Hall. The Lamar dance department is proud to collaborate with the dance culture in Houston, and dance artist nationally and internationally. Students have the opportunity to gain experience with ballet, modern, contemporary, and hip hop.

Students who take dance enjoy a sense of confidence and pride in themselves. It is a wonderful stress reliever and an outlet for each student. It is a very physically demanding activity, therefore students feel more fit and healthy.
