• Club Overview

The Mirabeau B. Lamar High School Chapter of the National Honor Society facilitates volunteer events for over 280 chapter members. This year, through a dedicated group of Officers and Junior Officers, we are proud to support one of the largest National Honor Societies with a myriad of meaningful volunteering opportunities to serve our community. Our officers, sponsors, and members dedicate their time to helping out in our community, serving and supervising at projects: fun runs, festival volunteering, non-profit events, and much more.

    Club Motto

    noblesse oblige (French: "nobility obligates")

    Who Can Join?

Our rigorous and holistic application process ensures that all members are driven to excel in their communities and in the classrooms, putting our best and brightest students out into the community to serve. Students are invited to apply during the spring semester of their sophomore or junior year for the following academic school year. Only juniors and seniors are allowed to join the Lamar chapter of NHS.

Students are invited to apply if they meet the 3.7 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) requirement and are in good standing.

    How to Join

Sophomores and Juniors who meet the above requirements will receive an invitation to apply for the National Honor Society from the Faculty Sponsors.

Students will complete an application and write an essay that will be reviewed by the Faculty Sponsors and Faculty Council. Through their application and essay, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership, character, and service.

Students who fail to complete the application or essay by the due date will not be considered for membership. Students who do not follow the essay rubric or write an essay that contains errors in spelling or grammar could potentially be denied membership.

The Faculty Council will then vote to accept members based on their GPA, application, and essay. Students will then receive their acceptance letter and be invited to a formal induction ceremony at Lamar at the end of the spring semester.
