Golf at Lamar High School is a competitive program with a rich history and a winning tradition. The program consists of both boys and girls teams. Our season consists of up to eight tournaments for each team during the school year played throughout the Houston Region, culminating with the District and Regional Championships in April.
We take great pride in the accomplishments of the Lamar Golf Teams. Together with the administration, the parents, and players, Lamar Golf embraces a competitive spirit that focuses on golf as a sport for life. The program promotes positive attitudes, respect for the game, and respect for teammates and fellow competitors. The program’s success stems from individual accomplishments and improvements that translate into a team mentality. For the past 8 years we have won the District 20-6A championship 5 times for the boys and three times for the girls. In addition, we have been to the regional championship each of those 8 years for both teams.
We are fortunate at Lamar to have as our home course, Memorial Park, one of the finest municipal courses in the country. We have a great relationship with the PGA professional staff. We also enjoy support from the Lamar Alumni Association who sponsors a fund raising tournament each year hosted and attended by Lamar graduates.
