    The Lamar Track & Field team concluded its season with a strong showing at the Region 3 Championships that was held on April 29th and 30th in Humble. Highlighting the contest for Lamar was Kaleb Goodly, who finished 3rd in high jump, just missing qualification for the state meet by an inch. Another highlight was the boys 800 meter relay team of Jordan Jackson, Dean Collins, Edgar Nunez, and Ayden Turner who finished 4th overall and just missed out on the state meet by one second. The Lamar track & field program would like to thank the faculty and staff for their continued support.

     

    April 22nd, 2022

    Congratulations to the Lamar Track Program as they completed competition at the Area Championships. The boys team finished as Area 17/18-6A Runner-ups while the girls finished tied for 5th place overall. Highlights of the meet included Kaleb Goodley winning the high jump with a jump of 6 feet 7 inches, Omarion Marshall winning triple jump with a leap of 44 feet 2 inches, and also finishing first was the boys 800 meter relay team of Jordan Jackson, Dean Collins, Edgar Nunez, and Ayden Turner. Second place finishers included Stacy Guerrero in the 3200 meter run, Kobe Jones in the long jump, and Jordan Jackson in the 200 meter dash. Third place finishers included Kobe Jones in the triple jump, Griffin Decker in the discus, Joseph Hebert in the pole vault, Craig Meikleham in the 400 meter dash, Stacy Guerrero in the 1600 meter run, and both boys and girls 1600 meter relays. The girls relay members were Alil Akbar, Laila Balogun, Margaret Hudnall, and Julia Morstead, while the boys relay members were Craig Meikleham, Joseph Hussey, Cam Vandible, and Dean Collins.  Also qualify for the Regional Championship meet which will be taking place next Friday and Saturday in Humble were 4th place finishers Tatiana Nwosu in the girls discus, Edgar Nunez in the 200 meters, and the girls 800 meter relay team made up of Laila Balogun, Baylee Eaglin, Ahmiya Laboy, and Paris Powers.  Congratulations as all these members move on to the Regional track meet. The athletes and coaching staff have done a great job as Lamar has again qualified more athletes for the Regional Championships than any other team in the district.

    Congratulations to the Lamar Track & Field team for their success at the District 18-6A Track Meet this past week.  The boys team took home the district title to continue their reign as district champions.  The girls team finished as district runner ups in a tightly contested finish that was decided by 2 points.  Individual champions included Jordan Jackson in the 200, Camren Vandible in the 110 hurdles, Omarion Marshall in the triple jump, Kobe Jones in the long jump, Kaleb Goodley in the high jump, Griffin Decker in the discus, Alil Akbar in girls 800, Tatiana Nwosu in girls discus, Ciara Farrington in 100 hurdles, and Stacey Guerrero in both girls 3200 and 1600 meter runs.  Also, finishing as district champions was the boys 800 meter relay of Jordan Jackson, Dean Collins, Kobe Jones, and Ayden Turner. The girls district champion 400 meter relay consisted of members Ahmiya Laboy, Baylee Eaglin, Julia Morstead, and Paris Powers. The girls also took gold in the 1600 meter relay of Alil Akbar, Laila Balogun, Julia Morstead, and Amiyanee Harris.  The Lamar Track and Field teams will continue competition at the Area Championships on April 20th and 21st.

    Please congratulate the Sub Varsity Lamar Track & Field teams for winning the district championship. The Lamar track team swept all four divisions by winning first place in JV Girls, JV Boys, Freshmen Girls, and Freshmen Boys divisions.

    On behalf of the Lamar Track & Field Program, coaches and athletes, we would like to thank the Lamar administration team, faculty, and staff for your support on Friday, March 4th. The second annual Lamar Relays was a success and that is thanks in large part for your help in facilitating the event. Our program understands the large burden we put on the school and appreciate the many sacrifices that were made to ensure we were able to have a highly competitive successful meet. Because of your help our meet was a success with many teams commenting on the great experience they enjoyed while on our campus. As far as meet results our girls’ team were meet champions, while our boys team finished third overall. Once again, we would like to thank you all for your continued support and appreciate your help.
