    IMMEDIATE VOLUNTEER NEEDS

    All volunteers must be VIPS approved. Please take 15 minutes to complete the VIPS online training.

    Unlike past years, it will take the entire Lamar community to put on LHS Fest Formals & Flip Flops and every class has agreed to help!
    I have created a sign up for each class and the Dad's Club too.

    *ALL volunters must complete the HISD Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) Application for a background check in order to volunteer on any HISD campus.
    *VIPS applications take about 3 - 5 days to process.

    Alumni - NEW - The primary purpose of the Alumni Committee is to connect current students who are considering a university with former Lamar students who attended that university. To volunteer, contact Karena Wilson.
     

    Beautification - If you are interested in helping with the landscaping efforts for our new school and our efforts to beautify our campus, please contact the committee co-chairs: Elizabeth Young and Carlin Morstead

     

    Class of 2021 - Senior year will be volunteer opportunities include monthly senior celebrations, hosting fall and spring fundraising socials, fall food sales on campus, and planning and hosting the After Prom Party. To volunteer contact co-chairs Becky Zavala and Janet Neumann.

     

    Class of 2022 - Junior year volunteer opportunties include soliciting sponsors for College Night in October, hosting fall and spring College Prep seminars, and hosting fall and spring fundraising socials. To volunteer contact co-chairs Alyson Rooney and Beth Lane.

     

    Class of 2023 - Sophomore year volunteer opportunities include soliciting corporate sponsors, hosting fall and spring socials, and hosting the parking spot auction in February. To volunteer contact co-chairs Jill Calderone and Sook Miller.

     

    Class of 2024 - Freshman year volunteer opportunities include distributing class t-shirts, hosting a fall and spring fundraising socials, and food sales on camput inthe Spring. To volunteer contact co-chairs Jenny Wood and Lori Black.

     
    Dad's Club - NEW - Volunteer, fundraise, and socialize with Lamar dads. Contact Chairman Henrich Perez for information.
     
    Magnet / School Tours - Magnet tours will be starting soon, and Sara and Ms. Titus are looking for some more parents to help guide the weekly tours of parents and students.  Reach out to Sarah Thweatt if you are willing to take a shift or two, or know of someone that could.  Tours are every Thursday and training and prompts are provided!  
     
     
    Teacher Appreciation - We are looking for volunteers interested in organizing teacher appreciation events during the 2020-2021 school year. We have about 6 events in the year. It's a great way to give back to our wonderful teachers. Please contact the PTO President if you are interested. 
     
     
    2021-2022 PTO Executive Board and Committee Chairpersons - To be considered for a position next year on the PTO Executive Board or as a Committee Chairperson, contact President-Elect Kara Richardson. The nominating committee begins interviewing candidates in February.
