Mr. Schellberg was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 22, 1958, but has resided in Houston since 1960. He attended Windsor Village and Grissom Elementary Schools, Dowling Middle School, graduating from HISD’s James Madison High School in 1977.
Mr. Schellberg obtained an Associate in Arts degree from Houston Community College, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston and a Master of Education from Lamar University. He is certified as a Generalist 4-8 and as a Social Studies teacher, grades 8-12. In addition, Mr. Schellberg is a member of the Congress of Houston Teachers, the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented, the Texas Council for the Social Studies, and the United Nations Association of the USA.
Mr. Schellberg began his teaching career at Burbank in 2002 as the sixth grade World Cultures teacher in the Panther cluster. He was the 6th grade Social Studies Lead Teacher from 2003 through 2014, at which time he moved to the eighth grade Vanguard Academy. He has been the 8th Social Studies Lead Teacher from 2014 until the present. He was the 6th grade Vanguard Cluster Leader from 2011 through 2014 as well as the Model United Nations Coordinator from 2006 through 2014.
Mr. Schellberg, his wife Margarita, and their son David Jr. reside today in northwest Harris County.
