  • Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS)

     
    VIPS are HISD volunteers. Each year, thousands of parents, students and community partners support HISD students and teachers by volunteering their time. VIPS represent all economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds. They are caring adults or children, who tutor students, serve as classroom assistants to teachers, provide enrichment and hands-on experience with computers, work in the library, clinic, office, cafeteria, and provide other support.
     
    How can I become a ViPS?
     
    All volunteers must register online and pass a criminal background check each year before they can participate as a ViPS.
     
    You may register through this link:
    • Step 1: To initiate your session, please click ViPS Volunteer Orientation 
    • Step 2: Click START COURSE and follow the instructions.
    • Step 2: Fill out the information required exactly as it appears on your identification document. Please be aware that all the fields with an asterisk * are required.
    • Step 3: Click submit. 
    • Important: you must have an email to submit your application. If you do not have an email or need help setting one up, please come to the Vanguard Office at Burbank Middle School and we will assist you.
    • Step 4: Once you are CLEARED to volunteer, you will be informed via email. You are then eligible to volunteer at any HISD school!
     
    What type of identification is accepted? 
    • Texas Driver’s License
    • Official Passport
    • Texas Identification Card
    • Official U. S. Military ID
    • Driver’s License (issued by any state in the U.S.)
    • Matricula Consular
    • Identification Card (issued by any state in the U.S.)
    • Resident Alien Card

  • Voluntarios en las Escuelas Públicas (ViPS) 

     
    Los ViPS son voluntarios en las escuelas de HISD. Cada año, miles de padres, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad apoyan a HISD y sus alumnos al servir de voluntarios en nuestras escuelas. Los ViPS representan todos trasfondos económicos, étnicos y educacionales. Ellos son adultos que se preocupan por los niños, sirviendo de tutores, de asistentes en los salones de clase, de ayudantes en los salones de computación, de bibliotecarios auxiliares, de chaperones en viajes escolares o tal vez ayudando en la cafetería, en la oficina, o en la clínica.  
     
    ¿Cómo puedo convertirme en un ViPS?
    Todos los voluntarios tienen que registrarse a través de la página de internet y pasar una verificación de antecedentes penales (criminal background check) todos los años antes de poder participar como ViPS. Por favor siga las siguientes instrucciones:
    • Paso 1: Oprima ViPS Orientation  para iniciar la sesión.
    • Paso 2: Luego oprima START COURSE y siga las instrucciones. 
    • Paso 3: Oprima "Submit". Importante: usted tiene que tener correo electrónico para poder registrarse. Si usted no tiene correo electrónico o necesita ayuda para crear uno, por favor visite la oficina de Vanguardia en Burbank Middle School y nosotros gustosamente le ayudaremos. 
    • Paso 4: Usted recibirá un correo electrónico una vez que haya completado el proceso y usted haya quedado APROBADO. Una vez que eso ocurra, ¡usted podrá servir de voluntario en cualquier escuela de HISD!
