Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Maria Mallada Banzo
Spanish Language and Cultural Assistant
Ms. Mallada is from the beautiful city of Zaragoza in northern Spain. It is one of the five largest cities in the country, only a few hours' drive from the mountains and the beach.
She earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University of Zaragoza, with a specialty in Special Education. She recently completed her master's degree in Hispanic Studies with a concentration in Spanish as a Second Language, which enabled her to come to Houston and participate in the cultural exchange that takes place each year between the United States and Spain. She arrived in Houston in early September 2023, and she will stay for the school year. She will be working very closely with the Spanish teachers here as well as the students in the Dual Language Academy in all their subject areas.
Ms. Mallada loves the mountains and extreme sports, even though she also enjoys quieter activities like reading. She says she agrees with Richard Steele who said, "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body".
We are very fortunate to have Ms. Mallada is with us this year, and we hope that she will enjoy her stay with us.
