A native of the Philippines, Mrs. Onia graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a Major in Biology. She completed coursework at Miriam College for a Master of Science in Environmental Education. Mrs. Onia’s teaching experience began in her native country, where she taught Biology in a public school for twelve years. After that, she and her family moved to Kano State in Nigeria, where she taught Biology and Chemistry for ten years.
Ms. Onia joined Burbank's family in the year 2000, teaching science in 6th and 7th grade, then 8th grade science in the Dual Language Academy, while also teaching high school Biology, IPC, Environmental Science and Chemistry at Liberty High School for 5 years in the evenings. She is currently a co-teacher in the Special Education Department. Ms. Onia also teaches science during Summer School.
Mrs. Onia holds teaching certificates in Science 4-8, Biology 8-12, and Special Education Pre-K to 12. She has always been committed to helping her students achieve the best results possible in the STAAR and any standardized tests.
