2023 SPELLING BEE

Last January 12, 2023, Burbank Middle School held its Annual Spelling Bee in the school auditorium. This year, the announcer and Emcee was Ms. Kynette Gray and the panel of judges was composed of Ms. Christy Weeks, Ms. Diana Reyes, and Mr. Daniel Alt. The event was coordinated for the ELAR Department by Ms.Tiffanie Cole. Burbank's Spelling Bee is part of the Scripps National Bee Competition.

Burbank's Spelling Bee 2023 winner is Sage Herbert with the winning word: vestments. In second place, we have Eduardo Quiroz, a 6th grade student in Mr. Bejko's homeroom, and in third place this year we have Abigail Martinez, who is a student in Mrs. Bucher-Airola's homeroom class. As first place winner, Sage will advance to the district Spelling Bee which will take place on February 7, 2023 at Scarborough High School. The event will begin around 9:00 am and should be concluded by noon. The winner of the district event will move on to the regional event.
