    Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Burbank Middle School EXCEL Academy is to create a community of empowered learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. Our students, faculty and staff are dedicated to the individual development of attitudes, skills, knowledge, and responsibility essential to successful achievement in school and society through actively involving parents and the community in supporting student learning and development.

    What We Do

Burbank Middle School has Met Standards and earned the maximum Seven Distinctions three years in a row and now again for 2022! That is due to the collective effort of every student, teacher, and administrator on our campus. Our EXCEL students are very much a part of that outstanding achievement and we want to ensure that we continue to succeed.

Our EXCEL students have the opportunity to have math every day as well as specialty electives such as STAAR in Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading, and English which give them the extra support they may need to be successful. In addition, our master schedule allows for our students to have at least two electives which they may choose from technology and performance and visual arts. We want to ensure that our EXCEL students have the benefits of a well-rounded education. Some of the electives available to our EXCEL students are:
    • Karate

Parents are always welcome to visit our school, but there are specific opportunities for communication. There are general parent meetings such as the Open House at the beginning of the year and the Coffee with the Principal meetings at 8:30 am every first Friday of the month.  The Excel Academy also has its own monthly parent meetings which normally take place on Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. In addition, parents may ask to visit to their student's teachers by either emailing the teachers or calling the school at 713-696-2720 to make an appointment. Parents may find the teachers' emails in the Faculty Directory .

At Burbank Middle School, we make every effort to empower our students to EXCEL!
