English Language Arts, 6th Grade Excel Academy

Conference Periods: 4th and 8th

Ms. Reyes is a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied Sociology and Portuguese. Her primary focus of interest was the societal factors that impact education, and with the knowledge she obtained through her studies, she worked in Bastrop, TX, assisting homeless young people to access their education under the McKinney-Vento Act. After moving back to Houston, Ms. Reyes decided to take the opportunity to join the faculty at Burbank Middle School and teach English Language Arts in the 6th Grade Excel Academy.  

Ms. Reyes wants her students to know how much they deserve a well-rounded education. She wants them to realize, that no matter the circumstances, the opportunity to learn will be the biggest gift that no one can ever take away from them.
