End of Year NJHS Projects
National Junior Honor Society Projects
During one of the NJHS chapter meeting, our members got together and decided that they wanted to donate 4 picnic tables to the school. For that purpose, they planned and conducted several fundraisers throughout the year. These are some of the activities they conducted:
1- Valentine’s Candygrams
2- Pancakes and treats during the Christmas Market
3- Car wash- these were done several times throughout the year.
With the money raised, Burbank's chapter was able to purchase the four tables as well as the paint to get them ready for students to use. Our chapter had the valuable help of Mr. Dario Macias, who taught our members how to sand and prepare the tables for use.
Since they raised more than the money they needed for the project, they decided to sponsor the field day for our Special Education students. The NJHS provided a water slide and a pizza party for students to enjoy. Their objective was to include and celebrate the most kind and often ignored students on campus.
Our chapter would like to give special thanks to the parents that supported them throughout the year. They said that "Our parents helped us all the way, regardless of our elaborate and crazy ideas", for which they are super grateful. They want to express their special love and respect to Mrs. Maria Gallegos, Mr. Benjamin Perez, Don Benito, and Mr. Macias.
I couldn't be prouder of this group of students. In addition to being excellent scholars, they showed their concern and desire to help their fellow human beings at every opportunity. They truly represented the values of a National Junior Honor Society member. I feel very blessed to have had them as my students.
