Mrs. Amanda Hudson
Mathematics, 6th Grade Excel Academy
Conference Periods: 4th and 9th
Mrs. Hudson is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania where she attended public school until moving to Pittsburgh to study Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University. After graduation, Mrs. Hudson worked in the lab of architectural ultra-high performance concrete company TAKTL to develop custom colors and textures and to coordinate client samples.
While she enjoyed applying her creative and technical skills in the industry, Mrs. Hudson began to explore her passions in the local community by volunteering and eventually shifting careers to work for educational non-profit youth programs. For several years she taught neighborhood and school STEM/STEAM programs and served as an architecture and design educator at Carnegie Museum of Art, where she grew in her love for learning and teaching.
Mrs. Hudson moved to Houston when her husband accepted a position teaching bagpipes at St. Thomas Episcopal school. She found a home at Burbank and is grateful to be a part of both 6th Grade Excel and the math department, where her teammates support each other to give 110% every day. She hopes that her students will leave her class as empowered learners and better citizens. In her free time Mrs. Hudson enjoys cooking, reading, and being outside.
