Mrs. Gwenivera L. Funderburk, is a native Houstonian and proud graduate from Texas Southern University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Science in 1994.

Mrs. Funderburk has been employed with the Houston Independent School District since 1996 and holds certifications in Generic Special Education K-12, English Language Arts and Reading, and Generalists 4-8. She has been a part of the Burbank Middle School staff for 15 years, first as a Special Education Teacher, and currently as a Mathematics teacher in the 6^th Grade Vanguard Academy.

Mrs. Funderburk considers herself to be a “lifelong learner” who isn’t afraid of opening her mind to new things! In May of 2019 Mrs. Funderburk was recognized by HISD for 20 years of service.  She believes that every child can learn with the right tools and in the right environment. Mrs. Funderburk is committed to achieving success as a TEAM…110%. No Excuses!!
