• Academics

    • HISD schools serve a diverse PreK-12 student population in both traditional and alternative classroom settings. The Academics Office is dedicated to giving every student the best possible education through services and programs designed to meet the needs of all students. The Academics division designs curriculum, implements student programming, supports teacher and school leader development, and designs student and parent engagement programming.

      Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs are available for students who have been identified as English Language Learners (ELLs).

      Early childhood education offers nurturing instructional environments. Pre-K is offered at 155 elementary campuses, as well as 8 Early Childhood Centers (ECC).
