The Department of Crisis Intervention strives to increase student academic achievement within a safe educational environment by addressing emotional and behavioral barriers to learning. These goals are met by providing direct and indirect intervention services, assisting in trauma/grief support, and by intervening with students, parents, and school personnel at times of distress. Crisis Intervention also provides districtwide trainings dealing with diverse subject matters, including suicide prevention, crisis intervention, early warning signs of mental health issues, and youth risky behaviors. The department is staffed by a manager, licensed doctoral psychologists, and post-doctoral fellows in psychology.
