    Erin Matheny—Challenge Early College High School

     

    Erin Matheny attended Lovett Elementary and Pin Oak Middle schools before graduating from Challenge. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Ambassador’s Club and the Theatre Club. She also serves as a Ten Thousand Villages volunteer and an advisory student facilitator.

     

    Matheny lists her favorite subject as biology, and she hopes to pursue a degree in biomedical studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She has been named Best Technician and Best Crew in her school’s theatre department. In her spare time, Matheny enjoys reading, cycling, and practicing martial arts.







     


     

    Cynthia Suryawan—Challenge Early College High School

     

    Cynthia Suryawan is a member of the International Thespian Society and the Gay-Straight Alliance. She also serves as senior-class treasurer and freshman-orientation facilitator. Suryawan intends to pursue a degree in her favorite subject, mathematics, at Salem College, using the Whitaker, Early Notification with Distinction, Founder’s, and Academic Excellence scholarships she has received.

     

    Suryawan attended Windsor Village Elementary and Pin Oak Middle schools before coming to Challenge. She is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and has earned recognition for her performance in University Interscholastic League (UIL) theatre productions and technical writing. In her spare time, Suryawan enjoys reading, writing, and drawing.
