    Sharon Huang—DeBakey High School for Health Professions

     

    Sharon Huang, who enjoys running, watching movies, and playing basketball and football, attended Lovett Elementary and T. H. Rogers Middle schools before graduating from DeBakey. Her favorite subject is biology, and she plans to pursue a pre-med degree in cognitive science from Rice University in the fall.

     

    Huang is active in her school’s Economics, Chinese, American Red Cross, and BETA (a service organization) clubs. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and girls’ basketball team. Huang has been recognized as an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. She was also awarded an Academic Excellence Scholarship from the University of Houston.

    Victoria Xie—DeBakey High School for Health Professions

     

    Victoria Xie plans to attend either Yale or Rice University this fall, where she will study her favorite subject, biology, using the scholarship she received from the Chinese Association of Professionals in Science and Technology. Xie attended an elementary school in Pearland and Pershing Middle School before graduating from DeBakey.

     

    Xie serves as president of National Honor Society and is a member of the Health Occupation Students of America and BETA (a service organization). She has also been active in her school’s Art, Table Tennis, Chinese, and American Red Cross Clubs. Xie is a National Merit Finalist, and she has earned recognition for her performance in biology, science, and art. In her free time, she enjoys babysitting, paintings, and conducting scientific research.
