Miguel Mendez—High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Miguel Mendez attended schools in the Dallas and San Antonio areas before graduating from HSLECJ. He declines to name a favorite subject, but lists his hobbies as tennis, basketball, and trombone.
Mendez plans to pursue a degree in political science from the University of Houston. He has been active on the debate team, the Archery Club, and the Chess Club.
Chaniquah SmithChaniquah Smith—High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Chaniquah Smith plans to attend Howard University this fall, where she will pursue a degree in engineering using the Legacy Scholarship she has already received. Smith lists science and social studies as her favorite subjects. She attended an elementary school in Fort Bend ISD and Attucks Middle School before graduating from HSLECJ. In her free time, Smith enjoys reading, playing basketball, and volunteering.
Smith is a member of the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America (BPA), and the varsity girls’ basketball team. She has been active in GeoFORCE and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. Smith has been recognized at the regional level of BPA competitions for her performance in video production and human resources.
