Chandler Dean
Chandler Dean—High School for the Performing and Visual Arts
Chandler Dean serves as the editor-in-chief of his school’s newspaper and vice president of the International Thespian Society. He is also active in the Stand-Up Comedy Club, which he founded. He lists his favorite subjects as government and theatre. Dean intends to study film production or political science at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Southern California, or Fordham University.
Dean attended Parker Elementary and Johnston Middle schools before coming to HSPVA. He has been recognized as a National Merit Finalist and an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. He has received scholarship offers from Fordham University and the University of Southern California. Dean lists his hobbies as making films, performing stand-up comedy routines, and creating political and social satire.
Peter JalbertPeter Jalbert—High School for the Performing and Visual Arts
Peter Jalbert, who enjoys traveling, making movies, and composing music, attended schools in Fort Bend ISD before coming to HSPVA. He lists his favorite subject as physics, and he plans to study music at Rice University or the Oberlin Conservatory. He has received scholarship offers from the Taiwanese Heritage Society and the Ed & Birdie Dawley Educational Trust.
Jalbert is a member of his school’s wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, and National Honor Society. He was recognized as a bronze medalist at the regional Science Olympiad in thermodynamics and earned Honorable Mention from the 2014 National YoungArts Foundation. He also serves as principal clarinetist of the Houston Youth Symphony.
