    José Ortíz—Liberty High School

    José Ortíz received instruction at schools in Honduras before coming to Liberty High School. He is a member of the Student Council and the school’s soccer team. Ortíz is an Honor Roll student who has been recognized for maintaining a perfect-attendance record.

    Ortíz plans to pursue a degree in accounting at the University of Houston-Downtown. He lists his favorite subject as mathematics, and in his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, creating art, and listening to music.

    Mutabazi Ndagijimana—Liberty High School

    Mutabazi Ndagijimana plans to study his favorite subject—biology—at Texas A&M University. He received instruction at schools in the Democratic Republic of Congo before coming to Liberty.

    Ndagijimana lists some of his favorite hobbies as singing, dancing, and playing the piano. He is the recipient of a Regents Scholarship from Texas A&M University and a Beat the Odds Scholarship from the Children’s Defense Fund.
