    Alexis Sombillo—Mount Carmel Academy

     

    Alexis Sombillo, who enjoys reading, baking, and playing the piano, has attended the Mount Carmel Academy for the past 12 years, since it was known as Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School and was not yet an HISD charter school. She is active in the Cooking Club and the Girls on the Run Club. She is also a member of the Student Council.

     

    Sombillo cites her favorite class as chemistry, and she intends to pursue a degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University. She has been recognized with awards for her performance in a variety of subjects, including geography, debate, creative writing, Spanish, and chorale.

    Angie Perez—Mount Carmel Academy

     

    Angie Perez plans to attend the University of St. Thomas and major in medical marketing using the Basilian Distinguished Scholarship she received. She has been recognized for exemplary performance in English, biology, algebra, creative writing, health, and theatre arts.

     

    Perez attended schools in Pearland ISD before graduating from Mount Carmel. She serves as president of the National Honor Society and is active in the Newman Club. Perez lists her favorite subject as English, and in her spare time, she enjoys baking, shopping, and collecting mugs.
